The candidate will be responsible for identifying, developing & implementing state-of-art, cost effective, robust and reliable MCHX and RTPF H/X Material Systems for current heat exchanger designs and advanced heat exchanger technologies for CCS. He/she will be a key member of a core R&D team who will work closely with divisional engineering, the United Technologies Research Center, supplier partners, and outside Universities to prove feasibility and develop, specify and implement improved tools, equipment & technologies. Emphasis will be placed on a balanced approach employing a complimentary blend of both practical execution and advanced material systems Bachelors/Masters in Engineering. Identify, benchmark, and assess alternatives material systems and processes for Round Tube Plate Fin (RTPF) heat exchangers and Microchannell H/X, by leveraging CCS, UTRC, Academia and Supplier capabilities and resources. Develop standard work, best practices, procedures and equipment specifications for corrosion resistance working closely with Business Units, suppliers, United Technologies Research Center and CCS''s Technology & Components groups for selection and testing of materials in support of CCS Al-Al RTPF and MCHX conversion program. Perform Design of Experiments, tests and validation trials for proof of concept of new technologies and processes to deliver TRL>6 per CCS(`9s Technology Readiness Level procedure. A technology development plan to achieve TRL=6 together with gap analysis are required Metallurgical Engineering with minimum of 5+ years with 10 years preferred of production and manufacturing experience; Demonstrated knowledge of electrochemistry and metallurgical understanding of Aluminum and it''s alloys. general understanding of the manufacturing of RTPF (tube extrusion & forming processes), MCHX assembly techniques and equipment and controls necessary to produce HVAC&R H/X products. Hands-on and can-do, self motivated individual, capable of communicating with all levels of the organization, especially with factory production resources. Familiar with Design of Experiments, and able to execute them. Willing and able to travel nationally and internationally in support of various manufacturing programs for Carrier for short periods at a time. Good communication, project presentation and organization skills Computer literate Domestic relocation will be considered.
