NOTE: This position requires extensive travel within the U.S and possible international travel as well. Prospective applicants should reside anywhere within a reasonable driving distance from a major airport. Candidates must be either, U.S citizens or have

Applicants need to be previously trained by GE in the Electrical TFA OEM training program.

The Electrical Technical Field Advisor (TFA) provides on-site technical direction to customer-owned utility and industrial power plants for their Turbine Generator Excitation Systems. Responsible for reviewing plant engineering documents and P&ID's, troubleshooting
of plant systems and equipment, planning, organizing, integrating and direction of resources such as labor, tools and materials as required to complete the work scope according to contractual requirements.

The primary responsibility of the Electrical TFA, is to safely accomplish the maintenance and repair of the heavy duty turbine generators used in power generation applications. TFAs work closely with Craft Labor Supervisors, EHS personnel, and the Operations
Department to achieve these goals.


Participate as a Service Team member dedicated to Safety metrics.

+ Pre-outage and installation planning; possibly recommending and administering policies and procedures

+ Lead execution of retrofit projects, including: Excitation systems (EX2100 EX2100e, LS2100, LS2100e and HMI products), Generator Protection Systems (GPP), and Power System Stabilization systems.

+ Execute project management and technical leader duties. Support warranty administration and troubleshooting issues.

+ Perform work at GE and customer locations throughout the Western United States (primary) with possible work locations globally. Weekend work, and shift work will be necessary.

+ Able to travel extensively (100%) and work significant over-time.

+ Complete service reports, invoicing packages, and other administrative requirements timely.

+ Drive customer satisfaction through commitment to quality.

+ Support the business growth initiatives.

+ Trace through the software documentation

+ Implement control constant modifications

+ Reading and modifying software sequencing

+ Set up and modify the hardware and software associated with the Gas/Steam Turbine Excitation / LCI system

+ Implement excitation control system software changes

+ Work with both DOS and Windows NT based operator interfaces

+ Work with both analog and digital controls including logic

+ Provide Technical Direction for wiring install and terminate, complete functionality checks, and troubleshooting the turbine excitation / LCI system. Perform start-up/shut-down sequencing and turbine/generator operation.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:This position requires you to have previous GE OEM training by GE in the Turbine Generator Excitation systems EX2100 and EX2100e. Prospective candidate should have experience with configuring and troubleshooting turbine generator excitation.

+ Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goalsEDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:Bachelor Degree in Engineering and 4 years of experience, or 6 years of experience without formal degree, in power plant maintenance, turbine generator maintenance, or power plant equipment installation/ commissioning preferred. Demonstrated progressive, responsibleexperience with various types of turbine generator equipment and site accountabilities is required.PHYSICAL ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

+ Must be able and willing to work long hours and schedules that are not uniform on a day-to-day basis

+ Must be able and willing to work in extreme weather conditions for extended periods of time

+ Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.

+ Must be able to climb ladders and steps

+ Extensive travel to and from projects for various field assignments is required. International travel may be required
