Description
POSITION DESCRIPTION:The role of the laboratory/quality assurance technician is a position that has
diverse job functions. Although primary duties will include analysis of product, testing samples, and media
prep. In daily duties, the lab/quality assurance technician must be able to perform a wide variety of
inspections and sampling according to stringent time guidelines. Furthermore, it will be the duty of the
lab/quality assurance technician to help prepare for daily USDA audits of the entire breaker processing
area. All duties are to be performed in an exemplary and professional manner.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:(non-exclusive list)** The duties of the lab/quality assurance
technician are too numerous too mention. They are responsible for the following list of
duties. However, this list does not compromise all of the items under each category. The
lab manager shall designate specific duties to the assistant manager, as he or she deems
necessary.

Physical and Chemical Analysis:
·
Analysis of all the following: Fat and protein, egg solids, whips and bleeds, bakeouts, raw
ingredients, conductivity, salt, temperatures of silos, glycol, freezer, lab etc.
·
Inspection
·
Inspection of items such as equipment, silos, tanker bay, can-off area
·
Testing of items such as raw egg pour test, pasteurizing and blending tests, homogenizer tests.
·
Sampling
·
Sampling of such items as shell eggs, skids, liquid egg, can-off product,
i. Tanker area – raw/ physical and chemical, temperature, and micro
ii. Environmentals – weekly and monthly swabs/ air exposure
iii. Pasteurization and cooling water
iv. Raw and Pasteurized Egg micro

Media Prep
·
Frequent use of media-BPW, UVM
·
Confirmatory media
·
Media for RA Labs
·
Record Keeping
·
MSDS (Lab and plant)
·
Raw ingredient testing
·
GC Breaker Plant and Dryer Plant inspections

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDING EDUCATION AND SKILLS:College level education is preferred – a BA degree in Biology or a technical field is highlydesired.

Some knowledge of general lab operations, previous lab job experience, general managerial
experience, and the role the lab dept. plays in a liquid egg processing facility.
·
Capable of performing misc. computer programs – such as MS Word and MS Excel – knowledge
of other lab related computer software is desired.
·
Competent and professional communication skills (i.e. written and verbal.)
·
Ability to handle multiple tasks at once – the ability to deal with stressful situations.
·
Ability to deal with customers professionally.
·
Possess good decision making skills.
·
Ability to handle all lab operations and always keep safety in mind.
·
Ability to keep up-to-date in the industry – always researching and searching for
new ideas to improve Rose Acre products.

11.) Possess high organizational skills – ensure the coordination and transmission of
Corporate lab directives to all Rose Acre locations.

12.) Possess a strong sense of ethics regarding business and professional matters.
