NO RIO''S OR FELONIES, must pass criminal background check. One year of experience preferred, but willing to train. Requires a thorough knowledge of communications procedures and may involve daily contact with the public. Responsible for the receiving, directing, and dissemination of information and requests to various emergency and non-emergency entities. Shift work is required. Responds to delegation of duties from the Communications Supervisor, Chief Deputy, or Sheriff. Must exercise alertness and independent judgment in dealing with unusual situations. Employee is subject to the usual hazards of law enforcement work. Basic certification by the Tx Commission on Law Enforcement Officers Standards and Education as a Telecommunicator is preferred, but is required within 12 months after appointment. Essential job duties: 1. Perform radio dispatch duties for Police, EMS and Fire units 2. Receives and routes incoming telephone calls 3. Makes inquiries, entries and modifications in to the NCIC/TCIS as required and/or requested. 4. Performs record keeping duties 5. Performs other dispatch related duties as required.
