GMS Mt. Vernon Operations is a Bristol Myers Squibb Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Facility located on 300 acres in southern Indiana. We produce tablets and capsules and package into multiple blister and bottle packaging configurations. Mt. Vernon is a launch site for new oral solid dosage products. The Senior Industrial Engineer will focus on Operational Excellence by improving manufacturing and business processes through the application of Lean Manufacturing, Theory of Constraints and other waste- and variability-reduction methodologies. The role works with Engineering, Production and Operational Excellence staff to identify and prioritize productivity and other cost-reduction initiatives, assists in maintaining project portfolios aligned to strategic objectives and provides input to the decision making process for project identification, prioritization and execution. The Sr. IE uses tools such as statistical process control, Lean and Six Sigma to analyze problems, find trends and relationships in multivariate systems and then summarizes information including recommended action plans for site leadership review. This position works with Supply Chain and Production to optimize the relationship between inventory, cycle time, and throughput, balances business trade-offs and recommends action plans. The Sr. IE applies innovative approaches to problem solving and resolution and coaches others to do the same. Additionally, the Sr. IE assists in maintaining the site metrics, designs, creates, and implements shop floor performance metric systems and trains end-users in use and on-going maintenance.
Qualifications:
This position requires a BS in Industrial Engineering, Engineering, or an applicable technical field and at least 5 years of industrial experience. Demonstrated knowledge and application of analytical tools to reduce variation, remove waste, and manage process constraints is required. The desired candidate will be certified in Lean Manufacturing and will have demonstrated competence in relevant tools and methods such as Theory of Constraints, Factory Physics, 5S, Kaizen and Gemba. Experience in the use of Microsoft Office Applications and SAP is desired, as well as the ability to use project management, statistical analysis, and database systems. The successful candidate will possess the demonstrated ability to work with and lead a diverse, cross-functional team for projects and initiatives. The desired candidate will possess the ability to effectively communicate across all levels of the organization, work independently, and drive activity to achieve results in a team culture.
