### Responsibilities
* Performs a wide range of minor treatment, cast room, and technical tasks in support of the Orthopedic Clinic.
* Greeting and logging patients into the clinic.
* Providing instructions and information on procedures to be performed.
* Setting up equipment, establishing a sterile field and assembling needed sterile supplies.
* Constructing and applying a variety of splints and casts using all forms of casting to include thermoplastic and hydroplastic casting materials.
* Scheduling and providing instruction/information for non-operative procedures for both outpatients and inpatients.

* In this position incumbent must obtain and maintain an Orthopedic Technologist Certifications.
* This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.
* Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
* This position has a pre-employment physical examination requirement.
### Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience and/or education requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes assisting Physicians, and/or Orthopedic Physician Assistant with at least one of the following related to examinations, treatments and/or procedures such as assistance with instrument, injections, dressings, medication, diagnostic studies, biological specimens. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
OR
Education: A half year (9 semester hours) of graduate-level education from an accredited college or university that is directly related to the work of the position such as Medical Technology, Medical Science. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of graduate education by 9. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify.) (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
