POSITION SUMMARY
The Land Management Tech (LMT) will travel within Tallgrass Aspen Parklands landscape in the Northern Tallgrass Prairie Ecoregion (northwestern Minnesota) as part of a landscape-based multi-person crew managing nature preserves during the summer months and as part of a prescribed burn crew in the fall.
As part of the prescribed burn crew, the LMT will be responsible for preparation and implementation of prescribed fire at various nature preserves under the direction of a Prescribed Burn Leader. The LMT must use safety equipment and maintain a safety-conscious attitude at all times. Tasks include assisting with preserve management activities such as prescribed burning, applying herbicides, clearing and mowing firebreaks, boundary posting, repairing and organizing burn equipment, tree and brush cutting, fence construction/removal, constructing parking areas, maintaining vehicles and equipment, meeting with local landowners, identifying management needs for preserves, assisting with field trips, leading volunteers, and other land management tasks as necessary. This position requires irregular hours and travel on short notice. Housing facilities will be provided for the full term of employment. Transportation from The Nature Conservancy office to the various preserves will be provided by The Nature Conservancy.   These are seasonal positions (see above for work dates).
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
* Assist with prescribed and/or wildland fire as part of a burn crew.
* Qualified as or able to meet qualifications for FFT2, including Introduction to ICS (I-100), Human Factors on the Fireline (L-180), Introduction to Wildland Fire Behavior (S-190), Firefighting Training (S-130), and one training burn serving under the supervision of a qualified FFT2. Candidates lacking elements of this training may be considered and training opportunities afforded if selected for one of the crews.
* Ability to pass US Forest Service work capacity test at arduous level (3 mile walk with 45 lb pack in 45 minutes)
* LMTs will be required to attend and pass TNC sponsored fire and equipment training during the first full week of employment. Training time is paid at normal salary rate.
* Working in natural systems, prairies, wetlands, and savannas.
* Ability to recognize plant and animal species as required to complete preserve management activities.
* Ability or willingness to learn to identify invasive plant species and rare plant species.
* Applying herbicides to manage ecological invasions. These duties require a restricted use herbicide application license (or willingness to obtain) and application experience.   Technicians will work safely with chemicals and will keep accurate and timely records of use.
* Operating and maintaining field equipment. Mechanical aptitude and knowledge of ATVs, 4-wheel drive, manual transmission vehicles and farm machinery and chainsaws. Experience in general maintenance and responsible operation of equipment.
* Working cooperatively and safely with a wide variety of people in stressful conditions. Ability to maintain a positive attitude, follow assignments closely, and work independently and efficiently without supervision.
* Communicating through interpersonal communication and in writing. Ability and willingness to keep organized and accurate records of work.
* Using innovative and creative problem solving skills when working independently. Ability to make independent decisions balancing task completion, safety, and ecological impacts.

Position Description

. Implementing and managing tools and processes to influence and control displays at the point-of sale
. Lead the creation of overall POS programs for utilization in support of supplier agreements and CWT desired outcome.
. Lead team through development/acquisition of necessary tools to drive POS activity
. Build proven strategies to support necessary outcome
. Require innovation in concepts and continuous improvement to achieve optimal program results.
. Design standard reporting to measure outcomes.
. Implement tools and processes to insure accurate display of CWT Fares/Value Rates and benchmark against the market

. Administering advertising programs through servers and other mechanisms to maximize revenue
. Running various online channels such as country online sites, blogs, etc
. Production of a variety of advertising products such as CWT Times, etc.
. Collaborate across GSPT to ensure annual initiatives are fully transparent and supported against defined goals and objectives
. Develops plans to meet department goals and objectives. Includes creation of processes, procedures, resources and measurement tools to achieve the initiative.
