3M is seeking a Product Development Engineer for the Corporate Research & Development Division.
Job Summary:
The position of Product Development Engineer will work with cross-functional design teams including the customer division to conceive, design, engineer, validate, and develop durable hard good products. Interdisciplinary cross-functional teams may also include collaborative teams within theSoftware, Electronic and Mechanical Systems(SEMS) Corporate Research Laboratory that include personnel with software, electronics, product safety, regulatory, quality, human factors, industrial design, mechanical design, and predictive engineering backgrounds.
Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).
Roles and Responsibilitiesinclude but are not limited to the following:

Concept development, design modeling, design documentation, design verification testing, prototype fabrication, supplier selection, supplier management, design for manufacturability and assembly.

Working with NX7.5, ProEngineer or SolidWorks CAD.
*
Finite element computer modeling as required to support functional, manufacturable, and serviceable new product development.

Location and Travel: The position of Product Development Engineer will be located in Maplewood, MN and may include up to 10% travel .
Basic Qualifications
*
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Biomedical engineering from an accredited university.
*
Minimum of 1 year experience with Unigraphics, ProEngineer or SolidWorks CAD.
*
Minimum of 1 year product development engineering experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
*
Masters degree in Mechanical or Biomedical engineering from an accredited university.
*
Experience with plastics, sheet metal, injection molding, machining, rapid prototyping, design for manufacturing and assembly (DFMA), and robust design.
*
Experience in product development with electro-mechanical systems.
*
Finite element modeling expertise or background.
*
Medical device product development experience.
*
Self starter with good communication and effective team interaction skills.
