Job Description
This position is for Pactiv, a company of Reynolds Group Holding Inc.
This position provides technical leadership and engineering research in developing new materials, processes and products; plans and conducts research and development projects of major significance which are difficult and complex in nature.
DESCRIPTION:
o Investigate, conceive, evaluate and recommend concepts/ideas related to new/improved materials, processes and products to support specific customer's requirements.
o Layout and implement programs to develop equipment, materials, processes and/or products which involve new technology or changes in the state of the art; determine technical and economic feasibility at each stage in the development processes.
o Prepares economic analysis as required including manufacturing cost estimates, overhead, cashflow and P&L. Works closely with the New Product Development group to prepare product cost esimates and Value Stream Engineering teams to develop capital estimates.
o Determine market requirements and translate into meaningful material, process and product developments. Coordinate the efforts of assigned Engineer(s), Chemist(s) and Engineering Specialist(s).
o Works closely with Manufacturing groups and Value Stream Engineering teams to provide hands on support of process/equipment startups and other troubleshooting events. Support Manufacturing AIP, including LEAN initiatives.
QUALIFICATIONS:
o Bachelor's degree in Engineering(Chemical, Mechanical, Plastics) required with Master's degree preferred.
o Typically 15+ years of applicable experience with a Bachelor's degree or 10+ years of applicable experience with a Master's degree.
o Advanced knowledge of polymers with process experience in sheet extrusion, compounding and thermoforming.
o Expertise with product costing encompassing poly and coversion costs.
o Knowledge of advanced statistical process control and quality systems.
o High degree of creativity and ability to work independently.
o Must be able to work a flexible schedule with travel expected to be 25-50%.
