Summary: This position performs various testing, repair, fabrication, assembly and maintenance activities. Duties may also include safety and quality control inspections, operating automated machinery, various power/hand tools and assisting engineers in testing new equipment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
. Review project instructions and blueprints to ascertain test specifications, procedures, and objectives, and test nature of technical problems
. Set-up, program operate, and prep all assigned equipment and perform full operational checks making all necessary adjustments
. Rebuild equipment using standard rebuild process
. Analyze and troubleshoot equipment failures to determine necessary corrective action
. Fabricate, and assemble new or modified mechanical components for products, such as industrial machinery or equipment, and measuring instruments
. Operate drill press, grinders, engine lathe, or other machines to modify parts tested or to fabricate experimental parts for testing
. Inspect all assembly parts and report defective material or questionable component conditions to management
. Read dials and meters to determine amperage, voltage, electrical output and input at specific operating temperature to analyze parts performance
. Fabricate special fixtures needed to perform task completion
. May be required to weld, cut, paint, and/or grind various raw building materials
. Assist with special projects and cover for multiple positions when staffing levels are low/production or operating demands are accelerated
. Assist lower level Technicians and other Shop personnel with training and various projects
. Observe and follow all company safety rules and policies
Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
Requirements

Education and/or Experience:High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and 6+ years of related experience and/or training is required. A minimum of one year in a vocational/technical training program is preferred.
Computer Skills:
. Some limited proficiency with a personal computer and common applicable functions/programs is preferred
. Advanced skill in operating electronics and computers to diagnose and repair machines
Other Skills, Abilities or preferred Qualifications:
. Expert ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
. Expert ability to write legible, routine correspondence and to speak effectively as well as coherently with management and other employees
. Advanced knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction or repair of metal fabrications or other structures
. Advanced knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology, including applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services
. Advanced knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods
. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form as well as deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
. Valid Drivers'' License
. Forklift Certification or the ability to obtain one

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to walk; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus (these requirements can be met with the use of corrective lenses).
Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
