Job Summary:
A graduate or certified Respiratory Therapist is an individual who practices under medical supervision and delivers respiratory care services to most areas of the hospital. The duties are generally performed with only minimal or indirect supervision. The individual must frequently make independent decisions. The Therapist must be able to adapt to a particular assignment to provide respiratory support to patients.
Essential Duties:
* Assess, treat, evaluate and monitor patients with various disorders of the cardiopulmonary system.
* Performs therapy according to Physician orders.
* Special duties as required, including patient and family education.
Education:
* High school diploma required.
* Graduate of accredited Respiratory Therapy School.
Experience:
* One year experience preferred.
License/Certification:
*
Current Basic Life Support (BLS).
*
ACLS

SAINT LUKE S EAST HOSPITAL is looking for a Respiratory Therapist to work full-time nights. The Respiratory Care Practitioner performs all aspects of cardiopulmonary function assessment and care as outlined in national and departmental clinical standards of practice, (policy, procedure and clinical guidelines manual) and in accordance with written/verbal physician orders or approved protocols. Clinical practice activities include, but are not limited to the performance of diagnostic cardiopulmonary function and metabolic testing, care plan development, assessment based therapeutic interventions, analysis and reporting of clinical response, interdisciplinary discharge planning, and patient/family education. Accountabilities of the Respiratory Care Practitioner include the collection and assessment of history and physical information, diagnostic testing, and review of clinical data pursuant to the development and monitoring of planned interventions in collaboration with the medical staff and other members of the health care team. The Respiratory Care Practitioner supports, and participates as appropriate, in inter/intra departmental meetings, performance improvement activities, continuing education, professional growth and development activities and performs other duties as assigned. Missouri RCP license; NBRC CRT and BLS are required. Must have ACLS, NRP, PALS and be RRT eligible within one year of hire.
