ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: . Responsible for the complete admission assessment and preparatory work required for Catheterization patients and Electrophysiology patients. This would include Completion of the Initial Nursing Assessment, IV starts, Foley Catheter insertion, clip of groin site. Evaluation of Lab results and implementation of standing orders if indicated for Hydration. . Admit and evaluate on a daily basis reoccurring outpatients that may present for IV antibiotic therapy, blood transfusions, Iron infusions and Lovenox injections. . Collaborates with and receives direction from the Unit Director and/or House Supervisors. . Identifies situations that decrease efficiency of care or ineffective use of resources at the unit, department, and hospital levels. . Demonstrates openness to innovative ideas and change. . Assists as needed in planning for staffing needs for the department/unit based on the daily final census. . Actively participates in determining staffing needs for the next shift, in coordination with the House Supervisor and/or Unit Director. . Actively rotates through resource nurse position as directed by Unit Director. . Adheres to facility's policies and procedures. . Actively participates in quality and safety initiatives. . Performs chart reviews based on clinical audit tool as determined by Unit Director. . Collaborates with staff to determine patient status and acuity. . Reviews and documents/completes shift-occurring incident reports. . Adhere to proper chain of command for all needs or concerns. . Performs other duties as assigned. . Adheres to all HIPPA policies and procedures with protected health information. . Acts as a role model for RN colleagues and students. . Shares new knowledge and best practices with colleagues. . Supports the values and mission of Galichia Heart Hospital promoting positive guest relations to the patients, families of patients, medical staff, general public and other employees of the hospital. . Provides clinical direction to staff and evaluates the level of care provided by the unit/department staff. . Required to float to other departments per hospital need. . Flexes between Outpatient and Interventional Units per unit schedules. . Completes Unit Specific competency at orientation and annually.
LICENSURE OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED: . Unrestricted, current State of Kansas Nursing license. . BLS, required . ACLS, required within 1 year of hire . 3 - 5 years experience in an acute care setting. . Other certifications, experience related to work environment.
