Required Registration, Licensure or Certification
* Current Licensure in the State of Kansas as a Registered Professional Nurse (RN)
* Current Basic Life Support (BLS) verification course, as specified in policy
* Dysrhythmia Exam (prior to completion of orientation)
* Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) verification course within allotted time frame, as specified in policy
* For RNs in CCU - 12 lead EKG interpretation, IABP
* For RNs in MICU - NIH
*
Preferred Registration, Licensure or Certification
*
For RNs in MICU - CRRT
*
For RNs in SICU - TNCC, IABP, CRRT, NIH
*
Required Education or Experience
*
Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing
*
Required Knowledge and Skills
*
Ability to utilize the nursing process in the provision of nursing care including, but not limited to, administering treatments and medications, interpreting diagnostic tests, formulating a plan of care, collaborating with other health care providers and providing education to patients and/or significant others
* Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively
* Possess personal computer skills
* Ability to multi-task, delegate and prioritize
* Possess problem solving and critical thinking skills
* Ability to collaborate with other health care providers
* Ability to educate patients and/or significant others

Follows and maintains current evidence based and research driven nursing practices and quality measures including but not limited to:
*
VAP prevention and implementation of VAP bundle
*
Skin & Wound Care including prevention of pressure wounds
*
Meeting & Exceeding Core Measures as determined by National Standards
*
Proactive care to reduce Catheter Acquired UTIs
*
Protecting patient safety and being cognizant of Fall Risk and interventions to prevent falls
* Utilizing restraints safely as per hospital policy
* Display competence in the following (may be unit specific - training provided during orientation):
* Interpreting EKG rhythms
* Vasoactive and Cardiac IV medications
* Ventilator management
* MediTech documentation including visual flow sheet
* Arterial and Venous blood draws
* Obtaining 12-lead EKGs
