PURPOSE OF YOUR POSITION
*
The primary purpose of your position is to perform a variety of clinical and clerical duties to assist nurse and physician in any way necessary to ensure proper, prompt, and professional patient care. Perform the functions of assessing, planning, evaluating, and providing patient care under the direction of the nurse and/or physician in accordance with established standards of medical assistant care.

GENERAL INFORMATION
*
Good communication skills, tact and diplomacy are required to interact effectively with all people. Also, the ability to comprehend established office procedures and routines. Must learn quickly from oral and written instructions, have knowledge of medical terminology, and understand the ethics of confidentiality. Should possess good organizational skills. Can effectively act as a liaison between patients and physicians.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
*
Work is generally light and includes frequent standing, sitting and walking (51-80% of work time).
*
May occasionally required to lift up to 75 lbs to set up for lift tests (6-20% of work time).
*
Work occasionally requires other activities including; pushing/pulling wheelchairs, climbing stairs, and stooping, kneeling, crouching and bending to assist other staff in caring for patients (6-20% of work time)
*
Work requires manual dexterity for purposes of utilizing necessary equipment and evaluating patients.
*
Must be able to see and hear, or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to assure that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
*
Work requires monthly travel to perform on site drug testing and physical examinations (10-20 miles)

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
*
General office environment. Some discomfort due to noise, crowded conditions or frequent interruptions (21-50% of work time).
*
Working conditions may vary during site visits. Site conditions vary from office settings to manufacturing environments. May be subject to unpleasant weather conditions, poor ventilation, or hazardous conditions (21-50% of work time).
*
Work involves some unpleasant patient care related activities (i.e burns, foreign bodies, drug tests) (21-50% of work time).
*
Frequent potential exposure to infectious diseases, substances and wastes including hepatitis and the AIDS virus (21-50% of work time).
*
Nature of the work (worker`s compensation issues, undesirable drug screening results, etc) may create a hostile environment Subject to injury from confused, combative patients, families and visitors.
*

QUALIFICATIONS
*
High School graduate or equivalent required.
*
Previous physician office or other clinical experience preferred. Experience in an Occupational Medicine clinic highly desirable.
*
BLS certification required. Certificates in Drug Screen Collections and Breath Alcohol Test Technician required within two weeks of hire.
*
Valid driver''s license and proof of insurability required.
*
Pennsylvania state police criminal record check, child abuse history clearance and an FBI criminal history check required.
*
Work requires basic computer literacy skills and keyboard proficiency. Experience working with clinical documentation systems or electronic charting and hospital information systems preferred. Work requires basic skills in Microsoft Word.

Work requires interpersonal skills to communicate with other staff, schedule appointments and greet visitors. Social sensitivity required when communicating with patients to gather patient histories and incident report information and give instructions for drug testing. Must be compassionate, professional, and empathetic when handling patient complaints and concerns while remaining focused on providing a positive patient experience (more than 80% of work time).

Work requires analytical ability to follow basic methods, procedures and policies to assist in providing care or solve problems (51-80% of work time).

Work requires mental and visual focus and attention to detail. Work is performed under tight deadlines, must possess excellent time management and functional organizational skills to manage a variety of tasks in a short period of time (more than 80% of work time).
